Ever since time began earthquakes have occurred and annihilated our structures, be it the simplest shed or colossal mega structures, within just a matter of seconds. The gargantuan amount of energy released caused the greatest minds of all times go wondering for centuries for a plausible explanation!!! This trail goes all the way back to the Greeks blaming it to the fury of Gods,until Aristotle finally proposed the first rational explanation ever. Since then to the current day humans have unlocked hundreds of mysteries about this supposedly devastating phenomenon which by itself is utterly benign.

This fact was realized only after the 1906 San Francisco, California which struck in the early hours of April 18, 1906 killing thousands of people in bed. Having a magnitude of 8.25 on Richter scale it became the worst earthquake in the history of California!!!! This debacle reflected the hazard which inefficiently constructed structures manifest on the human race.

It was then when Structural Engineers and Seismologist joined hands and set out on a quest to morph the earthquake-hazards to apassé.

And the quest still continues…
