1) What do we have to do in this challenge?
You need to think a new and innovative use of fly ash from the power plants of NTPC .
2) Can you give us an example of such designs to start thinking about this competition?
NTPC uses fly ash to make bricks stronger for building purposes. You can also come up with such an application .
3) Do we need to make a model of our design?
No, you just have to design and give a presentation. But if you want to show features like strength, durability etc. we suggest that you make a model of your design. If you find it difficult to make a model you can also show your features using any software.
4) What do you expect in our Abstract?
You need to write about the main ingredients, the method of manufacturing, special features, and applications of your design. If you are making a model mention the method of testing. In case you are using a software to demonstrate mention the software you would be using.
5) How many members can be there in a single team?
There can be at the most four members in a team.
6) What previous knowledge do we need to have?
Not much. You should be aware of the existing uses of fly ash and its properties and be innovative enough to find new uses of it. You can see some of its uses in NTPC’s website.
7) Do we need to be from a specific department to participate?
No, there is no such constraint. As long as you want to innovate, you are welcome to do so.
8) When will we know that we are shortlisted?
You will be informed by email within 5 days after the deadline of abstract submission. Keep checking the website for exact date.
9) Do we have to bring instruments for demonstration or testing?
No, the instruments will be provided to you. You will be asked to send us the instruments required by you after your abstract is shortlisted for IITK round.
10) Will we be provided accommodation once we get shortlisted?
Of course, you & your team will be accommodated by Hospitality team, Techkriti ’10, IIT Kanpur.
