MANUSCRIPT

Original Manuscripts

These are articles in which the authors talk about original research and work (theoretical and/or experimental) conducted by them regarding the problem statement. Normally these articles range from 2500 to 3500 words. Visual Information in the form of graphs, diagrams, photographs (any or all) is a must.

The article is the responsibility of the respective Authors. Techkriti won’t be responsible for any idea presented by authors.

STRUCTURE

An impressive title

This is a must. Title must be relevant and catchy 4 to 8 word collection that makes the reader go for the article. The title may include technical information but it should be minimal.

An explanatory sub-title

The sub-title must be the actual technical title of the article. Sometimes, while trying to make the title catchy, the gist might be lost. But our aim is not just flash names that play with words. Our aim is that the readers must get a clear idea of what they are about to read. It is because of this reason that a sub-title, usually one-sentence long, to further elucidate on the topic has to be included.

Prologue

This is pretty much like the abstract of the article. The word limit on this is 150 to 200 words maximum and should mention the core of the article. It is expected if the prologue is more accessible to the readers than the entire article so that the reader is tempted to read it.

Body

The author is free to scribble whatever he/she desires in this part.

Epilogue

The Epilogue itself is divided into the following parts:

About the Author(s)

The Authors may include a short (not more than 75 words) biographical sketch plus a simple photograph of themselves. Mention full name, email ID and Affiliation (Institute, Laboratory and Department). You can also mention your personal website or a blog. Note that a blog must be mentioned only if it is technology or science related.

Acknowledgement(s)

Many times author(s) might want to acknowledge the guidance received from a mentor (a faculty member, a research associate, a senior student or anyone else) or the inspiration received from somewhere or some person. This section is for those acknowledgements.

LANGUAGE

The crux of the paper or the contributions of the work should be conveyed to the reader as clearly as possible. Even if the authors choose to give the technical details of the contribution they should provide an interpretation or explanation of their work as well.

Please understand, there is a difference between the language and the content of the article. These are delicately linked and to a large extent might be even separable when coming to scientific communication. The content should remain what it is.

SUBMISSION

We prefer electronic submission. However in extreme cases, hard copy submissions are also acceptable.

Format

Font: Cambria

Font Size: 14 for Title, 12 for subtitle, 10 for Prologue, 11 for section headings, 10.5 for sub headings, 10.5 for text, 10 for Epilogue.

File Format: .doc/.docx. PDF submissions are discouraged unless generated via and accompanied with LaTeX submissions.

Word limit

This depends on the kind of manuscript you are submitting. In the initial submission, the length has to be reasonable. For example an article of seven pages is bound to lose readership. But if you think you can hit the home run, you are most welcome. Most feature articles should be between 2500 to 3500 words.

Timelines

The competition starts on 10th September, 2009 and the deadline for submission is 12th December,2009. The submission will be through mail to iichallenge@techkriti.org.

Authors will be informed about the rejection or acceptance or change in their manuscript.

All manuscript contributions are voluntary at present. We do not pay the contributors in cash or kind.
