We are thankful to everyone for the great response in the preliminary round of Telekino. After much consideration of the abstracts received, we have selected 12 teams for the final round. The list of teams selected for the Final round can be found here.
Introduction
The world of today runs with an index finger and remote control only makes this happen. Imagine what life would be without remote control; constraints, restrictions, limited movement space. Best of all inventions and gadgets would lose their gleaming utility if they lack this small yet indispensable facility.
So in this event, you will be required to make an Infrared Remote Control transmitter and receiver which will be used to play tic-tac-toe.
Problem Statement
- To make Infrared Remote Control transmitter and receiver.
- The transmitter shall be used to play tic-tac-toe.
- The tic-tac-toe should be played on LED matrix connected to receiver.
- The output of corresponding X and O's should be easily distinguishable on LED matrix.
- Use of MCU (Microcontroller Unit) is NOT allowed.
Preliminary Round:
- Each team has to submit abstract for both transmitter and receiver.
- Abstract should include the following details:
- Circuit Diagrams
- List of all components used
- Description of your approach to the problem(not more than 300 words)
- Deadline for abstract submission is January 20th, 2010. Please send your abstract to "radioactive[at]techkriti.org" with subject "Abstract Telekino".
Final Round:
- The teams shortlisted in preliminary round will have to come to IIT Kanpur during Techkriti'10 with their circuits.
- On the day of the event the teams will be required to demonstrate the working of tic-tac-toe using their receiver and transmitter circuits.
Judging Criteria
- Proper working of circuits
- Range of transmitter and receiver
- Innovation and creativity
- Extra features
- Simplicity of circuit
- Submitted abstract
Rules
- Each team should consist of 2-4 members.
- All the required equipments should be brought by teams. No equipments will be provided by the organisers.
- Any team which do not report with their circuits at the specified time of the event will be eliminated from the event.
- No readymade circuits shall be used.
- The judges reserve the right to ask team for an explanation of their circuits.
- Judges decision will be treated as final and binding on all.
- The organisers reserve the right to change any of the rules as they deem fit. Change in rules, if any will be highlighted on the website and notified to the registered participants.
- All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes are eligible to participate.
